FHN: I was at an outdoor cafe and a guy was sharing his latte with Rover -- spooning it to him from the cup.

Dear Dog Lovers:
Popping in for a moment and will comment more later -- thank you for sharing your dog tales!
BOTR: Some dogs I walk in their very neighborhoods, others not at all. Some I must transport to parks, but that has proved a problem (skittishness, unpredictable behavior). If I cannot contain the animal and see a potential problem looming, I err on the side of safety. One very large pooch I was walking froze in the middle of the street and I had to carry him home.
You've given quite a picture of what goes on in your area! VERY interesting!

there's a photo of shasta lake near where i live -- it's very sad now to see how low the lake is.
and governor brown is being really wimpy about it, suggesting we not flush our toilets as often as usual.
Hi Hortensia:
I, like you, live in one of the wettest regions of CA. Normally. The few "storms" we've had since November have been mere showers, for the most part. Surprisingly, on Wednesday it actually rained for about 6 hours nonstop. Still not enough.
Happy weekend.

she holds me tenderly in her tightening but welcome thrall.
i cave willingly -- oh, so willingly -- to her amatory attentions.

Good morning, OUTLAW:
Why, the shirt off my back and the keys to my car!
Anything less would be uncharitable.
Actually, this summer a homeless man asked for bus fare to Illinois to meet up with a friend who promised him a place to stay. I'm in California. I took him out to lunch, gave him $s for dinner, then took him to a homeless shelter. I tried not to feel guilty for failing to do more. A friend who was with me helped out, which was appreciated.
I was scraping together money to go 200 miles to see a sick friend.
Best.

You are so RIGHT, galaxie! I move out of the line of fire with the big guys; they'll knock you down! Welcome to JWN.

Some appear ready and able to do as asked and others, well, just sort of stare . . . and stare. . . . I realize a lot has to do with the handler's manner.
Kindness and patience matter, of course, and some pets have never graduated from Obedience School. Still, on occasion, me and mine appear to be speaking a different tongue. Some owners are very indulgent with their pets, even allowing them to sit at the table with the guests. I will not share my bone with Rover if he demands to sit next to me.
Any thoughts, experiences, general tips on pooch care are welcome.
